Ahmed Nauraiz Rana

Biography

Nauraiz is an Economist, who works with the World Bank Group in Washington DC. Nauraiz is currently engaged with the Global Business Regulation Unit of the Macro, Trade and Investment Global Practice, advising governments and working on the design and implementation of investment climate reforms targeted towards creating an enabling environment conducive for poverty reduction and business-led growth. Previously, he has worked with the IFC and UNDP on areas of private sector development focusing on employment, entrepreneurship, informality and market creation with cross cutting emphasis on gender mainstreaming and digitalization. Nauraiz has published several reports and papers on these topics. Nauraiz has also served as an Economic Advisory to the Ontario Ministry of Economic Growth and Development, and as a Policy Consultant for the Government of Punjab. Nauraiz holds a dual-degree Masters in Economic Development and Public Policy from Columbia University, and the London School of Economics. He holds a Bachelor’s in Economics and Finance from the University of Waterloo Focus Areas: Microeconomic policy; informal economy; digital economy (disruptive tech); gender inclusion; private sector development; micro, small and medium enterprise development; poverty alleviation. International experience: Europe, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, North America.
